Maria Turunen
Hello!
I’m Maria, a Tampere-based violin teacher and violinist. When I’m not working with the violin, you’ll likely find me out on a running trail or exploring Finland’s national parks. My favorite sport is cross-country skiing!
According to my students, one of the best things about my teaching is my ability to spark enthusiasm and inspiration for music. I can guide students in classical violin all the way to professional studies—or simply support them in enjoying an engaging and fun musical hobby. In my lessons, we can also explore pop, jazz, film music, or folk music—I enjoy breaking down genre boundaries, and student preferences are always welcome!
I actively perform in a string quartet and, whenever possible, I like to incorporate ensemble playing and chamber music into my lessons as well. A typical lesson with me includes a proper warm-up, a variety of technical exercises, and focused work on repertoire. I also provide practical tips to support effective practice at home.
Whether you’re a child, teenager, adult, hobbyist, or aiming for a professional career—you're warmly welcome to join my lessons and explore the world of music! 🙂
